**The Office of Advice Counsel is responsible for
providing legal advice to all Boards, Commissions
and Panels. These attorneys do not provide legal
advice to parties outside LLR.
The SC Board of Registration for Foresters utilizes the Society of American Foresters' (SAF) Certified Forester Examination. The exam is administered by SAF in computer-based format.
As of January 1, 2016, individuals interested in becoming a Registered Forester by Examination will take a two part examination for licensure in South Carolina.
Part One: Certified Forester (CF) Examination (150 multiple-choice questions)Applicants must obtain a passing score of 70% on the South Carolina Forestry Specific Examination.
Part Two: South Carolina Forestry Specific Examination (35 multiple-choice questions)
Prior to application submission, applicants must have a four-year degree from an approved forestry school OR six years of Board approved experience under a professional forester in order to be eligible to take the examination for registration.
The Board Office will notify the Society of American Foresters once an applicant has been approved to take the examination. SAF will send examination information directly to exam candidates.
