Section 40-37-290 of the South Carolina Optometry Practice Act has been amended to clarify that controlled substances that have been reclassified from Schedule III to Schedule II on or after October 6, 2014 may continue to be purchased, possessed, administered, supplied, and prescribed by an optometrist in the practice of optometry.
CHANGE IN LICENSE RENEWAL DUE DATE. The due date to renew your optometry license is December 31, 2014. If your license was obtained in 2014 the renewal due date is December 31, 2016.
NOTICE: South Carolina Law states that after September 30, 2008 the Board of Examiners in Optometry can no longer renew licenses for doctors that have not completed the licensing requirements for a therapeutically-certified optometrist.
