Legislative Committee

Co-Chairs Shuler Spigener, PharmD, and Dottie Farfone, R.Ph.

The Legislative Committee is convened to review and comment on existing legislation and rules governing the practice of pharmacy; to recommend to the Board pharmacy practice legislation needed to improve the protection of the public health; and to provide input and suggestions regarding the fiscal impact and practice implications of new statutes and regulations and/or amendment or repeal of existing statutes.

Practice & Technology Committee

Co-Chairs Rebecca Gillespie, PharmD, Beverly Black, and Michael Bedenbaugh, PharmD

The Practice & Technology Committee is convened to recommend guidelines and draft suggested advisory opinions for Board review pertaining to pharmacy practice and standards; to assist in the development of informational materials for circulation to licensees, registrants, and permit holders; and to provide input related to the use of health information technology, health information exchange systems, telemedicine/telepharmacy, telehealth, and other non-traditional service delivery models.

Health System Pharmacy Committee

Co-Chairs Artie McKnight, R.Ph., and Mary Douglass Smith, PharmD

The Health System Pharmacy Committee is convened to review and comment on existing areas of the Pharmacy Practice Act, as well as future regulations and policies, sharing real-world practice and challenges of institutional pharmacy practice.

Compounding Committee

Co-Chairs Michael Bedenbaugh, PharmD, and Artie McKnight, R.Ph.

The Compounding Committee is convened to identify and provide recommendations to the Board on issues concerning drug compounding and to develop informational resources for pharmacists and practitioners engaged in compounding. This Committee is currently drafting updated regulations controlling compounding in the State.

Pharmacy Technician

Co-Chairs Heather Harris, PharmD, and Beverly Black

The Pharmacy Technician Committee is convened to recommend Board action that addresses the real-world experiences and challenges faced by pharmacy technicians; to provide input on how technicians can practice to the height of their training and education when providing pharmacy services with a goal of improving pharmacy operations and, ultimately, patient care; and to collaborate across practice areas (e.g., community, hospital, residential care) to ensure a cohesive approach to common issues unique to pharmacy technicians.

Meeting dates are posted on the Board calendar, and agendas are posted prior to every meeting.
