REQUEST TO RUN FOR BOARD SEAT, 7th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
Pursuant to South Carolina Code Section 40-9-30, as amended, it is the responsibility of the Board of Chiropractic Examiners to conduct advisory elections for two nominees to fill each open seat on the Board. The elections are conducted pursuant to South Carolina Code Section 40-9-37. The purpose of this letter is to compile the names of those interested and qualified candidates to fill the subject open seat in District 7, with a term expiring on June 30, 2028. Terms are for four (4) years and until successors are appointed and qualify. Pursuant to South Carolina Code Section 40-9-39 Board members may serve two (2) full consecutive terms of office.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD:
- The eligible candidate for a seat on the Board must be a licensed and practicing chiropractor in South Carolina and in good standing for a period of five (5) years preceding the date of appointment to the board.
- The eligible candidate must reside and practice in the congressional district which he/she will represent.
GETTING ON THE BALLOT/ELECTION PROCEDURES:
Chiropractors in District 7 who are eligible and interested in filling the open seat on the Board must declare their candidacy by letter to the Board of Chiropractic Examiners and received by the board no later than September 28, 2026. In your letter, please include your name, license number, home address, business address, telephone number and attach your Curriculum Vitae.
VOTING REQUIREMENTS:
- The Board staff will mail out ballots in October 2026 with the slate of names of those who have declared candidacy, to every eligible licensed doctor of chiropractic in District 7.
- Every licensed chiropractor, regardless of years of practice, is eligible to vote in the advisory election in the district in which he/she resides. If a home street address has not been provided to the Board to enable identification of a congressional district or no district has been provided, no ballot can be sent to the chiropractor. (If you do not know your district, please contact the Voter Registration Office for assistance.)
- After the ballots are collected and counted in the board office, the names of the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for the district will be submitted to the Governor for his selection and appointment to the Board.
