- Be at least 18 years of age or older.

- Completed a one-year apprenticeship auctioneer program in South Carolina; or
- Completed eighty (80) hours of Commission-approved instruction in auctioneering from a Commission-approved educational institution; or

Individuals seeking to obtain an Auctioneer License must first apply to the Commission.
Upon approval of a completed application, the Commission office will notify the applicant of their exam eligibility. The examination is administered by Prov Inc., and applicants will not be authorized to take the exam until a complete application is on file.
Applicants will receive a notification from Prov once they are authorized to register for the examination. Applicants are responsible for registering and scheduling their exam directly with Prov. The examination registration fee must also be paid directly to Prov at the time of registration.
Exam-eligible applicants are encouraged to review the Prov Auctioneer Candidate Information Bulletin.
Prov will send examination score reports directly to the Commission office. Please do not submit your score report to the Commission office. The examination may not be taken more than once during any six-month period following a second exam failure.
Auctioneer licenses expire on June 30 of odd-numbered years. Renewal notifications are sent at the beginning of April. The current license cycle is July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027.

Continuing education is not required for Apprentice Auctioneers or Auction Firm license holders. However, if the owner or manager of an Auction Firm is a licensed Auctioneer, CE is still required for their Auctioneer license.
Do not submit any CE documentation to the Board's office. Licensees are required to use CE Broker and must upload all required continuing education hours before renewing their license.
