Examination Information

Upon approval of a completed application, the Commission office will notify the applicant of their exam eligibility. The examination is administered by Prov Inc., and applicants will not be authorized to take the exam until a complete application is on file.

Applicants will receive a notification from Prov once they are authorized to register for the examination. Applicants are responsible for registering and scheduling their exam directly with Prov. The examination registration fee must also be paid directly to Prov at the time of registration.

Exam-eligible applicants are encouraged to review the Prov Auctioneer Candidate Information Bulletin.

Prov will send examination score reports directly to the Commission office. Please do not submit your score report to the Commission office. The examination may not be taken more than once during any six-month period following a second exam failure.

Renewal

Auctioneer licenses expire on June 30 of odd-numbered years. Renewal notifications are sent at the beginning of April. The current license cycle is July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027.

Late Renewal: Applications postmarked between July 1 and September 30 of the renewal year are considered late. Late fees apply in addition to the renewal fee.

After September 30, the license will lapse. To reinstate a lapsed license, a new application must be submitted and reexamination is required.

Troubleshooting: Renewal Portal Login

The Renewal Portal is currently closed.

If you have not accessed your e-service account in a while, you may need to reset/recover your password. Go to the "I Forgot My Password" web link at https://eservice.llr.sc.gov/SSO/Login/RecoverPass/, and a link to reset your password will be emailed to you. You must have a current email address on file with the Commission to be able to reset your password.

Online Renewal Kickout

Accidentally answered a question resulting in a kick-out: Renewal kick-outs are cleared each morning. If immediate assistance is needed, a request to clear a kick-out may be emailed to Contact.Auctioneers@llr.sc.gov. A confirmation email will be sent once the renewal is accessible.

Continuing Education

Licensed Auctioneers are required to complete 8 hours of continuing education between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2027 in order to renew.

Continuing education is not required for Apprentice Auctioneers or Auction Firm license holders. However, if the owner or manager of an Auction Firm is a licensed Auctioneer, CE is still required for their Auctioneer license.

Reporting Continuing Education

Do not submit any CE documentation to the Board's office. Licensees are required to use CE Broker and must upload all required continuing education hours before renewing their license.

Reinstatement

After September 10, 2025, licenses are lapsed. To reinstate, a new application must be submitted and reexamination required.
