The Board of Social Work Examiners reviews applicants' credentials and licenses social workers in the state. The board licenses three levels of social workers: (1) licensed baccalaureate social workers; (2) licensed master social workers; and (3) licensed independent social workers, in clinical practice or advanced practice. In addition, the Board qualifies Licensed Independent Social Workers as Supervisors in clinical or advanced practice. It investigates complaints and disciplines when necessary.
