Calling for Applications: Compounding Advisory Panel
The South Carolina Board of Pharmacy is convening a Compounding Advisory Panel to advise the board on regulatory considerations in specific practice areas related to pharmaceutical compounding. This nine-member Panel will be appointed for a one-year term and will be expected to attend periodic meetings in person and/or virtually to provide objective comment to the Board on draft compounding regulations.
The composition and qualifications for members are listed below.
Purpose:
To advise the Board of Pharmacy on best practices, regulatory considerations, and emerging trends in pharmaceutical compounding-promoting patient safety, regulatory compliance, and the quality of compounded medications.
Qualifications:
- Active South Carolina pharmacy license or registration
- Active engagement in pharmacy practice within South Carolina
- Preference given to candidates with diverse compounding experience
Panel Composition:
- Two (2) pharmacists with non-sterile compounding experience, specifically in each of these
practice settings
- community/retail (1)
- hospital/health-system (1)
- Four (4) pharmacists with sterile compounding experience, specifically in each of these
practice settings
- community/retail (1)
- hospital/health-system (1)
- nuclear (1)
- home infusion and/or nutritional therapy (1)
- One (1) pharmacist with compounding experience in at least one of the following areas or
settings
- specialty
- veterinary
- hazardous, including hormone therapy
- One (1) pharmacy technician with non-sterile and/or sterile compounding experience
- One (1) expert with compliance and regulatory experience
