The biennial reporting period for the 2024 renewal is January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024

Continuing Education (CE)
Every licensed physical therapist and physical therapist assistant shall earn 3.0 CEUs or thirty (30) hours of acceptable continuing education credit per biennium year, which must include 15 hours of certified activities, which must include three hours of ethics or professionalism, and the remainder 15 hours through any combination of certified activities and/or approved activities. ALL licensees are required to submit their continuing education hours to CE Broker prior to renewing. Renewal Instructions/Requirements:
Check or money order only (no cash) in the amount of the biennial renewal fee made payable to LLR-Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. (All fees are non-refundable. A returned check fee of up to $30, or an amount specified by law, may be assessed on all returned funds.) Your PT or PTA renewal must be postmarked on or before December 31, 2024. After December 31st, your license is considered lapsed and is subject to disciplinary action according to the SC Board of Physical Therapy Practice Act.

Biennial Renewal / Late Fees:

  • Physical Therapy: Renewed/postmarked on or before 12/31/2024: $80
  • Renewed/postmarked 1/1/2025 - 1/31/2025: Late Fee $150 + Renewal Fee $80 = $230
  • Physical Therapy Assistant: Renewed/postmarked on or before 12/31/2024: $70
  • Renewed/postmarked 1/1/2025 - 1/31/2025: Late Fee $150 + Renewal Fee $70 = $220
  • After January 31, 2025, your license is lapsed and must be reinstated by completing a Reinstatement Application located on the website. Licensees may not practice with an expired or lapsed license.
  • If you have had a legal name change since your initial licensure or since your last renewal, please submit a legible copy of the legal documentation with this renewal form (i.e., copy of Marriage Certificate, divorce decree, court documentation). Documents may also be submitted directly to the Board by going to: https://eservice.llr.sc.gov/DocumentSubmission/.
