The Board's purpose is to examine and license optometrists for the right to practice in the state. For that reason, it investigates any complaints against optometrists and disciplines them when necessary. The board controls the quality of vision care that is rendered to the public and administers examinations appropriate to the education and experience of the candidates to determine whether or not they are qualified to practice optometry.
